Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road - Monroe, LA Services for Mr. William Frederick "Fred" Cotton, Jr., 68, of Monroe, will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Dr. Larry Stafford officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 P.M., Tuesday, in Greenwood Cemetery, Alexandria, LA, with Rev. James G. Theus and Rev. John Walmsley officiating. Masonic services will follow. Mr. Cotton passed away March 28, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, TX. He had undergone extensive heart and vascular surgery at St. Luke's. Born March 25, 1930 in Alexandria, Fred attended Bolton High School, Louisiana State University, and graduated from the American Institute of Baking. He and his wife, Catherine Normand Cotton, moved to Monroe in 1954 when the Cotton family purchased toe bakery in Monroe. He was Secretary/Treasurer of Cotton Brothers, Inc., until he retired in 1985. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, in 1990. Fred was a director of Ouachita National Bank and the banks that succeeded Ouachita, and a member of Western Star Lodge #24 F & AM, Monroe Scottish Rites Bodies, Barak Shrine Temple, and Royal Order of Jesters #187. Survivors include a son, William F. "Bill" Cotton and his wife, Sara Folk Cotton; a daughter, Catherine "Cathy" Cotton Nolan and her husband, Don Nolan; his father, William F. Cotton, Sr., and his wife, Mae Compton Cotton; a brother, R. Gene Cotton and his wife. Nancy Wilson Cotton; three grandchildren, Sara Kate, Catherine Mayo, and William Frederick, IV. Pallbearers will be Jerry Ryan, Jerry Iverson, Ed Seymour, Roy Gates, Johnny "Bo" Mitchell, Tommy McJunkins, Wes Loflin and Pat Siudy. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Hayne James Hayes, Dr. Jack Tom Jackson, Bill Riley and Dr. Larry Barr. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M., until 7:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home.
